Wild elephant strays into Ranchi, safely driven out after hours long operation
The animal was first sighted in Hawai Nagar in the early hours and later moved towards Birsa Chowk, disrupting traffic and forcing residents to remain indoors.

Based on specific inputs from Lucknow Military Intelligence regarding a suspected recruitment fraud, Ranchi police launched a joint operation and arrested a man for allegedly duping several aspirants of about Rs 70 lakh on the pretext of providing jobs in the Army and Military Engineering Services (MES).
Police said a special investigation team (SIT) was constituted under the supervision of senior officers to verify the inputs and trace the accused. Following technical and field investigation, the accused was apprehended from the Chutia area of Ranchi on April 10.

The accused has been identified as Arvind Prasad, a native of Ara in Bihar, who was residing in Ranchi and allegedly operating the fraud network.

According to police, the accused used forged documents and impersonation to convince job seekers about recruitment in the Army and MES. During the search operation, several documents related to recruitment processes, suspected to be forged, were recovered from his possession.
Preliminary investigation indicates that multiple victims were cheated with promises of employment, and money was collected over a period of time through different transactions.
A case has been registered at Chutia police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said, adding that further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the fraud and identify other persons involved in the racket.
